The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales (2017) (mini-review++)

(If you’re curious, my review process. It’s also pasted at the end of this post. I don’t believe in Rotten Tomatoes. I just believe in me.)

4.1 out of 5 🐙

(original title: Le grand méchant renard et autres contes…)

Do you like:

-three short stories that will plaster a smile on your face and joy in your heart

-A lazy stork faking an injury to take a break from delivering a baby

-Pork the pig, his friend, angrily covering for him with his charmingly idiotic friends, Duck and Rabbit

-gorgeous stylized animation that isn’t anything like the dominant computer generated landscape (no shade on that, just saying it’s different)

-perfect voice work

-bravura physical comedy in the style of the Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner

-French rabbits who inexplicably speak Chinese

-The Big Bad Fox (BBF) being tiny and wimpy so much so that he gets beaten up by the chicken he tries to eat

-BBF raising the chicks so that they are big and fat enough for the wolf to eat

-Michelle the chick being ok with being eaten

-an organic Voltron made out of champion chicken moms

-a too adorable custody splitting arrangement

-the charmingly idiotic Pork and friends obsessed with Christmas decorations

-Christmas being saved in a massively chaotic and hilarious way

-charming end credits

Of course you do.

(1) Shark Wrighter (SW) Score: Based on a sum of 5 sub-scores (acting, directing, writing/story, effects: cinematography &/or animation &/or effects, editing) with 1 being terrible and 10 being terrific.

(2) Octopuses (0-5 🐙, with 5 being fantastic and 0 being feces)

(3) Octopuses are my unquantifiable feeling…not that SW score is scientific…but this one is even less so

(4) ++ This optional section includes any incredibly *brilliant observations that don’t fit into simple quantitative slices like the scores and octopuses *(they are likely NOT brilliant)
