The Rock is the truth. No one is disputing this. But he deserved mor than follow-up to the very funny first installment in this franchise. I don’t know if it made me laugh less because the jokes weren’t as good as the riotous and fresh predecessor or if the concept of switched bodies was no longer novel. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers did not contribute to this screenplay so maybe that’s why the quality dipped. At the very least, they were not credited but I doubt that is it. I just remember laughing my ass off during the first one and here I chuckled every now and then but really never felt it. I’m not saying it was entirely an unfunny movie but it just suffered because my expectations were high. This just felt like a rehash of the first.

I usually point out some of the things I liked in a movie but that just feels like pity praise. Hopefully the sequel (and there’s already a 4th installment in the works) looks back to the first but I don’t have high hopes for that since it made a ton of money.

(1) Shark Wrighter (SW) Score: Based on a sum of 5 sub-scores (acting, directing, writing/story, effects: cinematography &/or animation &/or effects, editing) with 1 being terrible and 10 being terrific.

(2) Octopuses (0-5 🐙, with 5 being fantastic and 0 being feces)

(3) Octopuses are my unquantifiable feeling…not that SW score is scientific…but this one is even less so

(4) ++ This optional section includes any incredibly *brilliant observations that don’t fit into simple quantitative slices like the scores and octopuses *(they are likely NOT brilliant)
