(If you’re curious, my review process. It’s also pasted at the end of this post. I don’t believe in Rotten Tomatoes. I just believe in me.)
(***all-purpose SPOILER ALERT*** there may be some in this review)
SW SCORE: 27
2.5 out of 5 🐙
Other than The Good Dinosaur, which I don’t think I knew was a Pixar movie – though how could I have not known – I don’t know – Cars 3 was the Pixar movie I looked forward to seeing the least. I wasn’t even remotely excited about Cars 2. But I was crazy depressed and one of my closest friends was in town and it was the only movie showtime that fit so we saw it. I don’t know how many times the same plot can be done in a franchise but I guess the answer is clearly 3. If there is a Cars 4, I’m going to lose it. Cars 2 was “underdog wins the race” rehash. And Cars 3 was no different. There was a bit with a demolition derby scene that had potential. But it somehow failed to impress as well. Well, I guess it wanted to fit in with the rest of the scenes in the movie.
Feels level (0 being no tears, 10 being waterfall): 0 – As with the first two installments in the franchise, there were no scenes that prompted genuine sad emotions in this flick.
(1) Shark Wrighter (SW) Score: Based on a sum of 5 sub-scores (acting, directing, writing/story, effects: cinematography &/or animation &/or effects, editing) with 1 being terrible and 10 being terrific.
(2) Octopuses (0-5 🐙, with 5 being fantastic and 0 being feces)
(3) Octopuses are my unquantifiable feeling…not that SW score is scientific…but this one is even less so
(4) ++ This optional section includes any incredibly *brilliant observations that don’t fit into simple quantitative slices like the scores and octopuses *(they are likely NOT brilliant)
