(If you’re curious, my review process. It’s also pasted at the end of this post. I don’t believe in Rotten Tomatoes. I just believe in me.)
(***all-purpose SPOILER ALERT*** there may be some in this review)
SW SCORE: 43
4.3 out of 5 🐙
A love story set in a brightly colored dystopian future nightmare caused by human arrogance is Pixar’s triumphant and most political film to date. It should not be a controversial issue but while my position is solid (I’m with 97% of the scientific community), I’m not going to delve into it here. WALL-E is the just pure sweet story of a lonely soul who is resigned to a solitary existence. He spends all his time cleaning up the world after humanity who literally turned it into a junkyard. He miraculously meets a new soul who also turns out to become the love of his life. I would say it will fill your heart if I was a sap. But I’m not. Mostly. OK, I am. It’s another classic film from a studio that shoots them out with relentless and consistent dedication.
Feels level (0 being no tears, 10 being waterfall): 2 – When WALL-E appears to lose his love, it’s a hard moment. But he will not give up and his doggedness and true love cloud that sharp cut.
(1) Shark Wrighter (SW) Score: Based on a sum of 5 sub-scores (acting, directing, writing/story, effects: cinematography &/or animation &/or effects, editing) with 1 being terrible and 10 being terrific.
(2) Octopuses (0-5 🐙, with 5 being fantastic and 0 being feces)
(3) Octopuses are my unquantifiable feeling…not that SW score is scientific…but this one is even less so
(4) ++ This optional section includes any incredibly *brilliant observations that don’t fit into simple quantitative slices like the scores and octopuses *(they are likely NOT brilliant)
