(***all-purpose SPOILER ALERT*** there may be some in this review)

acting 7

directing 8

effects 8

editing 7

writing 8

3.8 out of 5 🐙

I’ll have to go into this further one day but this is like a French mash-up of Batman, Jason Bourne, and Bond. The writing is solid, the photography is gritty smooth like the Bourne trilogy’s, the actors are professional (Benedict Wong has gained a lot of weight since this movie! The benefits of fame, I suppose.), the story is tight, the final reveal could have used a bit more foreshadowing, but the final death move reminded me a LOT of a certain epic scene from an HBO original series that recently ended. It wasn’t exactly the same but I would not be surprised if the creators of that HBO show saw this movie. Also, the French produce excellent sex scenes. It’s a fun ride. it’s about 30 minutes too long but I was interested the entire time which is very rare and speaks to the quality.

(1) Shark Wrighter (SW) Score: Based on a sum of 5 sub-scores (acting, directing, writing/story, effects: cinematography &/or animation &/or effects, editing) with 1 being terrible and 10 being terrific.

(2) Octopuses (0-5 🐙, with 5 being fantastic and 0 being feces)

(3) Octopuses are my unquantifiable feeling…not that SW score is scientific…but this one is even less so

(4) ++ This optional section includes any incredibly *brilliant observations that don’t fit into simple quantitative slices like the scores and octopuses *(they are likely NOT brilliant)
