3.6 out of 5 🐙

The anime classic that brags about being the most violent ever in its genre (at least as of 1986). I’m not sure if that’s a true claim but it is CRAZY violent and I am thoroughly desensitized. Though some of the violence is just plain ludicrous so it loses effect. There are moments when the animation is stilted and you could definitely see the technological limitations. But it’s an ending I’ve never seen before and didn’t see coming and the world is fresh and so far from any western comic book movie I’ve ever seen (granted, I’ve only watched two anime flicks so far). So far I haven’t been disappointed in my anime introductory films.

(1) Shark Wrighter (SW) Score: Based on a sum of 5 sub-scores (acting, directing, writing/story, effects: cinematography &/or animation &/or effects, editing) with 1 being terrible and 10 being terrific.

(2) Octopuses (0-5 🐙, with 5 being fantastic and 0 being feces)

(3) Octopuses are my unquantifiable feeling…not that SW score is scientific…but this one is even less so

(4) ++ This optional section includes any incredibly *brilliant observations that don’t fit into simple quantitative slices like the scores and octopuses *(they are likely NOT brilliant)
