In 1994, 6 CEO’s from the major tobacco corporations testified that nicotine (and their products) was not addictive. Anyone who had ever met a regular smoker or was a regular smoker themselves knew this was complete and utter bullshit. Eventually, corporate documents revealed that the tobacco companies knew for decades that nicotine was addictive and, further, developed their products to heighten their addictive property, despite the fact that they were also well aware their offerings caused cancer and other terrible diseases. The Insider tells the story of one of the most significant whistleblowers that started the dismantling of Big TObacco’s insidious coverup. It is Russell Crowe’s finest performance. The things these horrible corporations did to derail this man were shocking. Unless you’re a lifelong cynic and know that corporations generally have to be forced to do good or at least not to employ abject evil in pursuit of profit and power. It is inspiring to see a man stand up to such horrible and powerful forces.

(1) Shark Wrighter (SW) Score: Based on a sum of 5 sub-scores (acting, directing, writing/story, effects: cinematography &/or animation &/or effects, editing) with 1 being terrible and 10 being terrific.

(2) Octopuses (0-5 🐙, with 5 being fantastic and 0 being feces)

(3) Octopuses are my unquantifiable feeling…not that SW score is scientific…but this one is even less so

(4) ++ This optional section includes any incredibly *brilliant observations that don’t fit into simple quantitative slices like the scores and octopuses *(they are likely NOT brilliant)
