(If you’re curious, my review process. It’s also pasted at the end of this post. I don’t believe in Rotten Tomatoes. I just believe in me.)
(***all-purpose SPOILER ALERT*** there may be some in this review)
The mini-review:
Taxi Driver
acting 10
directing 10
effects 8
editing 8
writing 9
SW SCORE: 45
4.7 out of 5 š

Again, nothing but love for his flawless performance in The Godfather Part 2, but this is Robert de Niro’s finest role and he pulled it off at such a young age. And it’s one of Jodie Foster’s finest roles and she was even younger. This movie would be enough to make a director’s entire career, but Scorsese still had Goodfellas and Raging Bull coming. But you could also argue that this was his finest directing work. That’s a lot of “finest” from three of the best ever. Do I need to say more?

(1) Shark Wrighter (SW) Score: Based on a sum of 5 sub-scores (acting, directing, writing/story, effects: cinematography &/or animation &/or effects, editing) with 1 being terrible and 10 being terrific.
(2) Octopuses (0-5 š, with 5 being fantastic and 0 being feces)
(3) Octopuses are my unquantifiable feelingā¦not that SW score is scientificā¦but this one is even less so
(4) ++ This optional section includes any incredibly *brilliant observations that don’t fit into simple quantitative slices like the scores and octopuses *(they are likely NOT brilliant)
