++ I can watch this movie whenever it comes on. It just always makes me happy. What can I say? I’m a sucker for the rags to riches trope. Even the losers get lucky sometimes, right? Well, I guess that when I used to watch tv live. I haven’t watched a tv show live since the finale of Game of Thrones. And I don’t watch sports anymore so there’s no appointment TV for me anymore. Oh, right, back to this movie. I know he played serious roles before this and played serious roles afterward but I was a kid who grew up in the suburban multiplex so Robin Williams was always a comic actor to me. I had no idea he was a Julliard educated master. This was his finest performance. And that kid Matt Damon had a pretty nice debut. Oh, and Minnie Driver was charming. And Gus Van Sant put it all together.
