Woody Allen’s movie about a man who is accidentally cryogenically frozen when he goes in for an ulcer operation in 1974 and gets unfrozen 200 years later is classic “Allen”. Woody only plays one character – his super neurotic, super hilarious (to me – either you love him or hate him) self. Diane Keaton, his perpetual foil, plays a snooty poet with the depth of a puddle. There was a lot more physical comedy in this Allen offering than in most of his movies I have seen. And, surprisingly, he’s just as good at dexterity quips as he is at verbal follies. If you like Woody Allen, Sleeper will make give you hilarious dreams. If not, stay awake.
